sorry for having post in French: all the tabs are written in french in the
web page, but it seems that this forum is actually an english
speaking.forum..
I have the following problem:
If I call chromium with a youtube URL argument, the button for the download
(...), is not displayed. Then, I can't download
If I type the same URL in the chromium address bar, it is displayed, and I
can download.
Can anybody explain that?
best regards,
Pierre Frenkiel

Can you share a sample URL?
YouTube does not have a download option, so I might be misunderstanding
your issue.
Does it happen with other standalone video URLs?

for youtube download, there is a chromium extension named
YouTube Video and MP3 Downloader
Actually, the problem I reported only occurs when a chromium window is
already present. In that case, the download is not possible in a new window,
neither by a "chromium URL" command nor by typing the URL in the address bar.

This might be an extension issue, then. Ask the authors. If they find that
it is a Chrome issue, they can always file an issue with Chrome.

thank you for your suggestion, but I don't know how to find the authors...
Anyway, as I found a work-around, I think it's not useful to do a bug
report.

If it is an extension, it exists in the web store. You can leave a review
with your issue there (and lower your rating ;)).

what do you call "THE" web store?
May-be you meant just 'on the web", where there are a big number of stores.

In the context of Chrome extensions for Chrome (or for an unmodified
Chromium), there is only one web store - the Chrome web store
<https://chrome.google.com/webstore>.

no. You only know this one, which is quite different.
Actually, I didn't find there any working extension for youtube download
*******
I suggest using the "google search" tool to extend your knowledge.
For example, it gave me the 2 following stores:

https://addoncrop.com/youtube_video_downloader/
https://fr.savefrom.net/

both providing working chromium extensions for youtube video download.

Chrome only accepts installations (not talking about unpacked extensions)
from the Chrome web store.
Chromium might accept installations from elsewhere, I have not checked in a
while.

Those websites seem to provide unpacked extensions, this is a development
method that was overloaded for "installing" unreviewed extension, which may
put you at a great risk.

Anyway, this discussion is not really going anywhere.
