[chromium-discuss] Force Youtube videos to start playing in new tabs without navigating to that tab

Current behavior: you open youtube link in new tab and it is paused until
you navigate to that tab.

Desired behavior: when you open youtube link in new tab it should start
playing asap. This is especially useful for people searching for specific
sound effects, tutorials, podcasts,.. or music videos for that matter...

Problem: I assume chrome handles active (flash, html5) content only on
focused tabs to preserve cpu and improve performance - Correct? Comment?

Proposed solution: I guess by handling flags one could force flash or html5
content to play asap, but that could have a negative effect on stability
and possibly a security issue. It would be great to write an extension that
simply plays youtube content automatically without being a focused tab.

Does anyone know of such extension or have another simple solution? My
current solution is to open link in new window (not in new tab), which is
clumsy. I really dont wanna mess with chromium flags because I use chrome
browser on several machines for various uses and I like keeping my setups
as simple as possible.

Pretty please :)

Most likely pause on new tab is a youtube feature. It would be silly to
show you a video when you can't see it.
